Get Dog Smart

About Us

Experienced retailers since 2003 based on the edge of the beautiful Peak District National Park.

Nuts about dogs, crazy about cats. Fur parents to an ex street cat  & two beautiful rescue dogs.

In February  2019 we met Lynette Smith founder of The Rydersafe Foundation. A pivotal moment.

Lynette had lost her beloved chocolate Lab Ryder to dog collar strangulation. We realised how uneducated we were at that moment & were horrified when she gave an indication of the volumes of dogs who fall victim to collar strangulation, not the handful of isolated freak tragedies we imagined. A sellers of dog collars we knew that we had to do something.

We advocate pet safety with an emphasis on the correct use of dog collars.

Get Dog Smart ®breakaway collars are hand made in the UK by skilled local people. The design is registered to us & each one carries a Get Dog Smart ® label so that you can be sure you are buying a genuine, quality product.

We are not affiliated to The Ryder Safe Foundation but we are passionate ambassadors for their mission. You can find a link to the Rydersafe Foundation on our home page.
